(31 Aug 2019) Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Agnes Chow said Friday she "won't be defeated by fear" following her and Demosisto leader Joshua Wong's release on bail after having been arrested.
She and Wong were charged with inciting others to join a protest outside a police station in June.
Speaking in Hong Kong following her release, Chow said the Hong Kong government and communist regime were trying to create "white horror" and a "sense of fear."
The high-profile arrests sparked outrage among protesters who accused authorities of attempting to pinpoint leaders in what demonstrators have said is a leaderless movement.
Hong Kong has experienced nearly three months of anti-government demonstrations as residents of the semi-autonomous Chinese city call for electoral reforms and an independent inquiry into police actions.
